On June 14, 1911, a group of 23 local women, who could all lay claim to a Revolutionary War patriot ancestor, who shared a deep love of their country and city, and who had a desire to encourage the study and preservation of history, came together under the leadership of Mrs. Allie Belle Hood Hager to form the Marcus Whitman Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR).
Marcus Whitman Chapter, NSDAR, is extremely proud of 114 years of continuous charitable work and sorority in the Snohomish County area. While cherishing our past history, we also evolve to meet the present times, and look forward to the still untold stories of the women of the Marcus Whitman Chapter! Our Marcus Whitman Chapter is a small chapter (less than 50 members) but steadily growing in membership. Our membership represents a wide variety of backgrounds, interests, and ages. We meet on the 2nd Saturday of the month September through June. We are a nonpolitical, nonpartisan women's service organization that focuses on the NSDAR pillars of historic preservation, patriotism, and education.
Any woman, 18 years or older, regardless of race, religion, or ethnic background, who can prove a lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution is eligible for membership. A 'patriot' can be defined as one who provided service or direct assistance in securing American independence. The NSDAR has chapters all over the world. For detailed information on our organization, check out our pages! Welcome! We're so glad you're here!
